This year the SNHS members’ weekend was held at Bar Hill, in Cambridgeshire. It was very well attended and once again glorious weather again this year. A précis of what we got up to and what we saw, appears at the end of this newsletter
Marjorie led a walk in June to Chobham Common. The group saw Common and Small Blue butterflies, Southern Marsh Orchid, as well as Common Spotted, Heath Speedwell, Storksbill, Mullein, Sundew, Lousewort, Lesser Spearwort, Willow Warbler and a pair of Stonechats
In July we had a walk around Broadwater Lakes, again a very hot day and saw some lovely wild flowers. Sheepleas with Ken and I in July was disappointing as far as butterflies were concerned although we did see a few Silver Washed Fritillaries.
14 ladies and Gordon went to Gwen’s Garden Party this year – it was a wonder he got out alive!
Our walk in August to Wakehurst Place on 29th ended up with just 7 of us. Ken took us through the Rock Walk and Bloomers Valley. Then around the extensive gardens after lunch – No rain! But not that warm either.
