We had a lovely talk on October 13th about the very endearing creatures: the dormouse and the water vole. David Williams had some wonderful slides with the ‘aah’ factor which were superb and we heard all about these entrancing animals. On 27th October we had a talk about Madagascar with Mike Hillman and his wife. It was sad to see the abject poverty that a great many of the islanders live in but for all that the slides projected a friendly people. Madagascar, of course, is known for its lemurs and the talk reflected that. On November 7th we had our annual fungus foray with Brian Spooner, this time on Oxshott Heath, near Esher. Ten members enjoyed collecting specimens and hearing Brian’s comments about them The highlight of the morning, however, was seeing so many exotic Aseroe in various stages of development from puff ball shape to a beautiful carmine-red flowerlike fruitbody.
